Dear Emmerson,
Dear Emmerson,
I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited to meet you! I first heard you were on the way while sitting in a Mexican restaurant on the way home from one of my adventures. One of your other aunts spilled the beans over beans and rice, hehe. She was a bit mortified to have told me the secret she thought I already knew... The secret of you. I spent a little time processing what it would mean to be aunt and how I would work on being a good one for you. Baby girl, you are changing our story. You are growing our hearts! Your momma called me to tell me about you a little later. She was and is and will always be thrilled about you. We all are!
The day of your gender reveal party your parents invited friends and family over and set up a tent on the property where they planned to build a house. Your grandfather cooked low country boil and your grandma put together decorations. People started arriving and we all took a really great look at the darkening sky. Within a few minutes the sky opened up and dumped rain on us. With everyone huddled together under the tent we celebrated you and waited for the rain to pass over. Grandpa put a trash bag over his soaking shirt and continued to cook. After the rain left everyone soaking, dinner was served! Your momma and dad surprised us all by announcing you were a girl. Your great aunt Ellen said it all when she stated, "Well after that displayed storm, she must be QUITE the girl!"
Come soon. Come safely. We are waiting to hold you.
Love forever,
AK
(Aunt Katie)
