Still drinking the FrouFrou stuff? I didn't think so...
The beginning of a relationship is like drinking one of those delicious froufrou drinks at your favorite coffee shop! It smells amazing. It looks yummy. It probably has a shot of espresso giving you a burst of energy. It just makes you feel all the warm fuzzies! I get it; I’ve been there! Another human thinks you’re amazing and that just feels all the happy feelings!
As the weeks… months… years go by you start drinking fewer and fewer froufrou drinks and start double fisting that coffee. You know what it looks like. It smells the same. It comes straight out of the pot and doesn’t have that fun swirly heart on the top. It becomes a part of your daily life. You wake up, roll over, make a few angry noises because you have to get out of bed (maybe that’s just me) and it’s there to greet you - Warm, yummy and very familiar! Ok! Enough about coffee let’s talk about relationships! The beginning is just the beginning! Your engagement was mind blowing! You were giddy thinking about getting married! Your wedding was gorgeous! You were floating on cloud nine! You both were so happy! Now it’s time for the straight up coffee. Things are maybe not so romantic all the time… You have to share a bed and bathroom… and people don’t always look the best, smell the best, act the best... You don’t always look like a white chocolate mocha, yourself! But… Could you do life without them? That person who chose you to spend the rest of life with is there for you, loves you, and sees you like no one else because they KNOW you like no one else.
Your relationship, as it grows through sunshine and storms just gets more and more and more lovely. As you understand each other, work on yourselves together and grow in wisdom you build a life… you create children… you leave a mark on the planet. I can’t tell you how much I love being asked for specific photos of couples during family sessions or weddings who have been married for years and want to celebrate where they are right now.

This Valentine’s Day Season I am opening 12 Sessions (6 in Chicago & 6 in Augusta, GA) to those who want to remember where they are in their story right now! These sessions are for couples of any age and will take place in Augusta, GA on February 16th and 17th and in Chicago, IL on April 27th and 28th. The perfect gift for Valentine’s day is the reminder that though we grow older and more familiar we never stop choosing each other.
